Laser Tattoo Removal

Tired of looking at that tattoo? Afraid to wear certain clothing because you are embarrassed of that tattoo? Is your tattoo causing you difficulty climbing the corporate ladder of success? Consider laser removal with Dr. Ellen Turner at the DermLaser Institute of Dallas. Laser tattoo removal is the only safe and effective way of removing the tattoo ink.

How does it work? The Nd:Yag q-switched laser is used to increase the energy within the laser to such high speeds that it can target the very small ink particles found in the tattoo pigment within the skin. Once the pigment explodes into microparticles, the body is able to carry this away in order to be metabolized and excreted by the body's natural processes.

Who will perform my tattoo removal? Dr. Ellen Turner, a licensed medical physician, performs all of the laser tattoo removals.

How many treatments will it take to remove the tattoo? Expect between 5-8 treatments, especially if the tattoo was performed professionally and contains several different color pigments. Green is the most difficult color to remove from a tattoo. Homemade tattoos may take much fewer treatments if only one color was used and if the pigment was placed fairly high up within the layers of the skin. Remember that you will see progressive fading with each successive treatment!

How long does a treatment take? Usually a treatment lasts between 5-15 minutes. However, if it is a very large tattoo, the time can sometimes be up to one hour.

Will it hurt to remove my tattoo? In the physician setting of the DermLaser Institute of Dallas, you are injected with numbing medication so that you do not feel the discomfort of the laser in any way.

Will it scar? In the vast majority of cases--no. At least 95% of patients do not scar, and have great results. There is, however, a possibility of scarring. If the area is taken care of as instructed by the physician performing the treatment, you will greatly reduce the chances of the area becoming infected, and then possibly scarring. The treatment area should be gently cleansed daily, followed by application Vaseline and then a bandaid or bandage. It is very important to protect the treated area from sunlight, as this could cause complications such as blistering or darkening.
